On July 15, 2015, a new legal magazine on the legal aspects of franchise was kicked off. A new magazine is being published by Franchise.nl under the name of Franchise & Rechtinformatiebron.

The content of Franchise & Law is provided by a network of leading attorneys with specialist knowledge in the field of franchise. For the first issue, the Flemish lawyer Marinus Vromans has explained his experiences with the Belgian ‘Franchise Act’ and Ludwig & Van Dam has provided a jurisprudence chronicle. The magazine is available on paper, but can also be read online in its entirety. Particularly due to the many developments within the franchise practice, such a platform is almost indispensable for practicing attorneys and professionals who deal with franchise.

Current affairs
The Netherlands has approximately 740 formulas and 32,000 franchise locations, with a turnover of more than 31 billion euros. In 2014, politicians and the Ministry of Economic Affairs started to get involved in the franchise sector. In June 2015, the consultation version of the Dutch Franchise Code (NFC) was published, which was prepared by a delegation of franchisors and franchisees. The final result will be presented to the franchise sector on 3 September 2015. Will this Franchise Code benefit the sector as self-regulation?
